“I heard a loud noise at the back of my house. Glass was shattering from the sliding door on the patio. ADT called me right away and I told them to send help because someone was in my house. It is reassuring to know that ADT and the police officers were there.”

ADT Employees to Volunteer 15,000 Hours at 250 Events Across North America During its Annual Week of Service, Impacting Thousands of Lives BOCA RATON, Fla., April 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The ADT Corporation (NYSE:ADT), a leading provider of security and automation solutions for homes and businesses, is kicking off its ADT Always Cares Annual Week of Service, which takes place from April 30 through May 7, by launching a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
Through a $100,000 contribution, the Habitat for Humanity partnership will bring together ADT employees to help build homes in Denver, Jacksonville, Fla. and Toronto. In addition to the Habitat for Humanity builds, ADT employees will volunteer 15,000 hours at 250 events in the U.S. and Canada over the week – all with the goal of improving the communities where ADT operates.
“At least 5,000 ADT team members and their families are expected to roll up their sleeves to paint, plant and perform thousands of tasks to help make a difference – all during a single week,” said Jerri DeVard, Chief Marketing Officer of ADT. “Not only does the volunteerism benefit our neighborhoods, but it’s also a great employee engagement experience. From Alaska to Puerto Rico and from Hawaii to Newfoundland, ADT volunteers will be out in force.”
“We are delighted to have ADT join in our mission and partner with our Habitat families in building decent and affordable places they can call home,” said Larry Gluth, Senior Vice President of U.S. and Canada for Habitat for Humanity International. “Our partnership will transform these communities and help homeowners the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better futures for themselves and their families.”
ADT Pulse is the security company’s automation service. Its app lets customers control lights and locks and check out what’s happening on the security camera. Adding the ability to control Nest to the mix gives users more control of their homes, but it also opens up new customers for Nest.
“What they [Nest Labs] love is ADT’s seven million customers, 4,000 sales representatives, and the relationships we have with fire departments and other emergency services, so that when there is an alarm we can dispatch the right people,” ADT’s CEO Naren Gursahaney told Forbes last year. Nest gets introduced to new customers through the special promotion with ADT, and the security company’s technicians will even hook it up for free, eliminating any intimidation factor amongst less tech-savvy homeowners.
In addition to the Nest integration, Pulse offers an “always on” dashboard so users can see what’s happening in the home and get alerts about fires or break-ins. Since the summer of last year, ADT has also had voice commands to let you control your home. Unlike something like Siri, you give it a password and the app starts to learn your voice, so even if your neighbor overhears your secret code, he or she still shouldn’t be able to turn on your lights if he swipes your phone.
